To Viktor go the spoils: how Hungary blazes a trail in Europe

"Orban's centre-right party is pioneering an alternative to austerity

The government of Hungary has taken on a lot of powerful interests in the last couple of months, and so far appears to be winning – despite provoking outrage from everybody who's anybody.

"The IMF should hold the line," shouted the Financial Times in an editorial the day after Hungary sent the IMF packing in July. "With so many countries in vulnerable positions, it cannot be seen to be a soft touch. Showing a few yellow and red cards is a good way to send a signal to other governments that might be tempted to flirt with indiscipline." La suite sur guardian.co.uk

"Úttörő Magyarországról ír, Orbánt dícséri a Guardian

„Aki mer, az nyer: hogyan tölt be úttörő szerepet Magyarország Európában” címmel jelent meg kedden a brit Guardian napilapban Mark Weisbrotnak, a CEPR washingtoni kutatóintézet társigazgatójának terjedelmes írása. Az elemzés egyértelműen dicséri az Orbán-kormányt, amiért szembe mert szállni az IMF-fel.
"To Viktor go the spoils: how Hungary blazes a trail in Europe" címmel (a Viktor-victor szóviccet is használva) közöl elemzést a magyar kormány és az IMF konfliktusáról Mark Weisbrot a brit Guardian liberális napilapban. A CEPR társigazgatója szerint Orbán Viktor kormánya úttörőnek számít Európában, hiszen a Nemzetközi Valutaalappal kialakult konfliktus más országokat is arra sarkalhat, hogy szembemenjenek a megszorító intézkedéseket preferáló politikával."
